Symptoms of juvenile diabetes

Diabetes is mainly classified into two types. Type 1 and type 2. Type 1 is also known as Juvenile diabetes as it is more common among young adults and teenagers. Type 2 diabetes is more common among people who are above 40 years of age so it is also known as adult onset diabetes.

There is no strong reason which states the cause of diabetes type 1. Among the reasons which states the cause of diabetes type 1 is autoimmune system of the human body. The autoimmune system consisting of antibodies destroys the beta cells of the pancreas which are responsible for secretion of insulin.

The disease initially starts as flu in children. Diabetes in children can be detected through diagnosis but other than that there are symptoms which makes as easy recognizing diabetes.

Some of the major symptoms of Juvenile diabetes are

Frequent urination

The children visits bathrooms frequently and also bedwetting is common among children.

Weight loss

As weight loss is a common sign because the food we eat is not converted to energy.

Feeling irritated

Children are irritated over simple things, they shows no cooperation in any matters they are indifferent.

Fatigue

Increased hunger

Confusion

Fruity breath odor.

Diabetes diagnosis is done usually with Urine and blood test. Urine shows glucose in it. Blood test is done normally in three ways in all the ways the blood glucose level is above normal range.

As compared to diabetes type 2, type 1 is auto immune disease and type 2 is a metabolic disease. There are chances that a person with type 2 diabetes can improve to some extent as insulin is still produced in type 2 diabetes cases.  But whereas in type 1 the insulin production has come to a halt.

Among the causes the genetics plays a vital role. Parent with type 1 diabetes pass it to their children.

Some of the misconception related to type 1 diabetes are it can be controlled or regulated, i.e. the insulin secretion starts again. But this is not the fact. Once the autoimmune system destroys the beta cells of pancreas, secretion of insulin by it is almost impossible. Sweets should be stopped which is big misconception because as every food items are converted to glucose. But people are advise to take complex carbohydrates in place of simple carbohydrates as they are easily converted to glucose.

People suffering with type 1 diabetes are given doses of insulin. It’s only a treatment but not a cure.
